Meet Your Tribe

We’re passionate child development professionals who want to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families.

Building The Barn

Hey there! I’m Rachael Somerman, and I’ve always had this big love for the tiniest of humans. Working one-on-one with them in therapy was amazing, but I wanted to do more. So, I decided to create The Barn—a welcoming spot where parents can connect, kids can play, and everyone can explore safely.

The Barn is more than a play space; it’s a community where tiny humans and parents can flourish side by side.

Our classes are led by experts in child development, and they provide an enriching and social environment where memories are made and lifelong bonds are formed. My dream is simple: to make a positive impact on as many families as possible. Come join us!

Rachael Somerman

Founder, Developmental Therapist

Rachael Somerman is the founder and owner of Unlimited Pediatric Therapy. She has served as a Florida state credentialed Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist for nearly a decade, and she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development and Family Studies from Eastern Kentucky University. Throughout her career, Rachael has experienced firsthand the dire need for high-quality therapeutic services for children with a spectrum of challenges.

Observing this service gap served as the catalyst for Rachael to create her own company, Unlimited Pediatric Therapy, to address the therapeutic needs of this cohort of kiddos. Over the years as the company has flourished, once again Rachael identified an unmet need – a community hub for classes, play, and support for children with disabilities and their families, and The Barn by UPT was born.  While away from work Rachael enjoys traveling, anything related to the beach or water and spending time with her two pups Charlee and Konrad.

Alex Miele

Alex Miele is an ASHA certified and Florida licensed speech language pathologist. Since 2015, she has been working with children with developmental delays in a variety of environments, including schools, clinics, and home health. Alex grew up in San Diego, attended college in Santa Barbara, and went to graduate school in Oregon. She then moved to the Tampa area and has been working in early intervention here since 2018.

Alex specializes in early language development, and she enjoys collaborating with families to help their child learn to communicate within their natural environment. She enjoys singing, laughing, and playing and is grateful for a career that allows her to help families learn new ways to help their kiddos grow! She lives with her husband and their goldendoodle, Finley, in Saint Petersburg. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting friends and family, spending time at the dog park, and doing yoga.

She grew up surrounded by the arts of all types and attended an arts-intensive high school prior to moving to Chicago and earning a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago, minoring in child and family psychology, and later a Master of Social Work from DePaul University prior to moving back to the Tampa area in 2016.

Since beginning her career in Early Intervention, Rachael has worked intensively with young children with disabilities and their families in multiple roles within Early Intervention. Rachael currently lives in St. Petersburg, FL with her husband and two children (as well as their Great Dane and cat). She spends her free time with her family as well as reading and creating.

She has her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in early childhood education and a minor in dance performance. Karys was originally born in Australia and lived there until she was 17. Her favorite Australian foods are fairy bread and meat pies! While in Australia she worked as an early childhood teacher for multiple years.

She completed a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education, the equivalent of a three year college degree, before moving across the world to Indiana where she received her BA. While in Indiana, she did an internship with the Department of Children and Families and was able to experience the amazing work of therapists and social workers, working directly with families and their children, to reach their goals. After graduating, Karys moved away from the snow in Indiana, and into the sunny state of Florida. She has been working as an Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist & is now able to use her background to help little ones with developmental delays thrive.
